Usha Kishore

Shakti

Betrayer of myself,
I count my ten hands,
and my endless array
of weapons; with flowers
and sweet-meats,
I worship myself,
my belief floating in the clouds…

Under the weight
of male egos, I
crush myself to
be a Half-Woman God…

I let them praise my
dark eyes, my coils
of dark hair and
let them wrench
my heart, spill my
tears and in silent
symphony, I  bear their seed…

I am the womb
 of the universe –
In myself, I
carry the pulsing
weight of the
centuries -

Goddess! Shakti! Power Incarnate!
