Dedication to Lord Shiva

As Gangotri as a trickle springs from rocks,
I sprang from mother’s womb as a little child.
As the same Gangotri’s widening expanse mocks,
In wider Ganga’s garb in plains and wilds,
Its earliest trickle narrow, small and mild,
My life, ever-widening with its gains
Secured by Shankar’s grace, has always smiled
At powerless childhood. Latest link in the chain
Of gains, this work is Thine, O light in a world insane.
